Hello, and Welcome to My Blog!
Thank you for taking the time to visit my blog! This week, I delved into fundamental switch and router functions, basic configurations, interfaces, and the intriguing world of VLANs.
Subnetting took center stage in my learning journey, as I dove into configuring IP addresses—a task that always keeps me on my toes!
My focus remained anchored in layers 1-3 of the OSI model. At Layer 1, networking hardware connects physically through interfaces, forming the backbone of communication. Here, we deal with the raw transmission of data over the network medium, encompassing cables, switches, routers, and NICs.
Layer 2, or the data link layer, adds another dimension to our understanding. It ensures error detection and correction, handles addressing via MAC addresses, and deals with the start and end of frames—the elemental units of data at this level.
While only briefly touched upon, Layer 3 deserves recognition for its pivotal role. Operating at the network layer, it introduces us to Internet Protocol (IP) addresses—logical identifiers crucial for global device identification.
